Reid Coolsaet is the second fastest Canadian marathoner of all-time having run 2:10:28 at the 2015 Berlin Marathon. He represented Canada at the 2012 and 2016 Olympics where he finished 27th and 23rd respectively in the marathon. Reid also competed in two World Championships finishing 25th in the marathon at the 2009 Berlin edition.
Reid was born and raised in Hamilton, ON where he started competing in cross-country races in grade six. Throughout high school he split his time between running, skiing and skateboarding. At the University of Guelph Reid started to train under his current coach Dave Scott-Thomas where he was a six-time All-Canadian. He capped off his university career with a silver medal over 5,000m at the 2005 World University Games. He has since won 14 Canadian titles from the 5,000m to the marathon.
Reid currently lives in Hamilton, ON and trains with the Speed River track and field club in Guelph, ON. For the past 6 years he has trained in Iten, Kenya during the winter. With the arrival of his son Louis in 2016 faraway training camps have been put on hold.
